One life – One planet: Vision Zero at the heart of the International ORP Congress 2023

With more than 1.300 participants attending the event live in Bilbao and over 7.300 online participants the 23rd International ORP Congress was a resounding success, not the least because of the excellent collaboration with the main international OSH-organisations such as ILO, WHO, ISSA, ICOH, IOSH, IALI, ENSHPO and ENETOSH. Many of the 218 international speakers from 41 countries highlighted the need for a healthy and sustainable business culture based on Vision Zero and the UN’s SDGs for 2030. A number of new, innovative Vision Zero tools were presented, such as a Vision Zero Environmental Guide for sustainable prevention, and a brand-new Vision Zero Well-being Guide to help organisations in addressing the mental health emergency. A special Vision Zero session demonstrated the dynamic nature of the Vision Zero strategy both as regards different geographical regions and sectors of industry. Following last year’s Vision Zero Summit Japan and the Tokyo Declaration on “Vision Zero for All” future plans to further promote the mind-set include both the World Congress on Safety and Health at Work in November in Sydney and the Vision Zero Summit 2024 expected to take place in Africa.
